Residency Requirement

In addition to satisfying all university and major requirements, a student must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours (the equivalent of one full year of study) at the University at Buffalo in order to earn a degree from the university. The minimum residency requirement for the combined undergraduate and graduate degree is 42 credit hours.

The following forms of credit may not be used to fulfill the residency requirement: transfer work; noncampus-based instruction; proficiency exams; Advanced Placement; military training; study abroad; cross-registration; international baccalaureate credit; and experiential learning.
