We do not offer a major in this program, we only offer a minor. We encourage students who are majoring in Spanish to also do a minor in our program. Students minoring in the Latina/Latino Studies program are introduced to a variety of disciplines such
as anthropology, Spanish, history, English, humanities, political science, philosophy, women's studies, and theater.
Some courses frequently offered in the Latina/o Studies program are Introduction to Puerto Rican Culture, Black Presence in Latin American Culture, Mainland Puerto Rican Experience. These courses provide a good overview of what Latina/o studies is about.
The Latina/Latino Studies program has core faculty within the Department of Transnational Studies who have distinguished themselves as scholars and teachers. Additionally, they are joined by renowned affiliated faculty from throughout the university and
western New York.
